2011 Weddings in Woodinville

Yesterday was a great day. The second year in a row I was involved in creating one of the best weddings show in the area. I was located at Willows Lodge. My friend Eric Newland of Hybrid Moon Productions created this video yesterday and it shows the great design and decor created by Tanya Davis of Elements in Bloom. Click here to view the video.

Magicians?! YES! part 2

Last but not least, Nate Jester owner of Ace of Illusions, is another Seattle magician that I met at a event industry networking event,   I was across the room and all of a sudden I saw fire coming out of his wallet.  I went running (not literaly) but close to have him do it again.  He is a great guy and will charm you and your guests.

Nate Jester

Nate mesmerizes people with his magic during social hour and helps break the ice and gets people laughing. This wedding magician .  He preforms slight of hand magic, the wallet on fire trick and after some research, he somehow removed a watch off a ladies wrist!

The benefit of having him wander around during cocktail hour is that it helps break the ice among guests who don’t know each other, and sets the tone for the reception.  Some of the other benefits are giving your guests a variety of entertainment if some people don’t feel like dancing, make your wedding stand out and be remembered, keeping busy while the wedding party is making the rounds or off taking pictures.

Nate’s magic is elegant and classy that is geared for adults and is not meant to steal the show, but to serve as another aspect of entertainment.

Check out his VIDEO and watch him in action

For more information go to his WEBSITE he can also be found on FACEBOOK and TWITTER

You can meet him in person this weekend at Weddings in Woodinville!

Magicians?! YES!

As you are starting to go to the smaller boutique shows and open houses, and some gentleman comes up to you and asks you to pick a card I hope you are take the time to do so.  They are two vendors that I absolutely adore!

Nate Jester and Nash Fung are magicians and are perfect for your wedding.  You are probably leery about having a magician at your wedding, but let me tell you, you and your guests will never forget it!  I hope after reading this and watching both of their videos you give them a call and have them entertain you and your guests.

I will introduce you to them in alphabetical order – Nash will be the AM post and Nate will be the PM post – because they are long posts.

Nash Fung

I first met Nash about 3 years ago at a networking event, and I think it was his first wedding professional networking event and totally charmed everyone he talked to.  Through the years I did not know exactly why I would have my clients hire him.  Then Adam Tiegs with Adams DJ Service had a great blog post about Nash and it hit me and now I suggest this to all of my clients.

Usually he will perform magic during cocktail hour as he mingles through the crowd, it is slight of hand – making someone’s drivers license appear in his wallet or turning $1.00 bill into $100.00 bill!  His other brand of magic is “pseudo mind reading” where he combines his background in psychology and magic to creat the illusion that he can tap into someone’s mind.

The benefit of having him wander around during cocktail hour is that it helps break the ice among guests who don’t know each other, and sets the tone for the reception.

Another great benefit is that he can perform magic from table to table to release the guests for the buffet, if it is a sit down dinner, he will peform between courses to alleviate the wait time which is a great benefit as it eliminated the boring downtime in the reception.

Besides performing he also creates and publishes his own original magic!  Some brides or grooms will contant him secretly and asks him to create a trick to convey his or her love to the other half.

Check out this VIDEO and watch him in action at a wedding.

He calls his style as classy and spohisticated, and he refuses to do any magic that appears “typical” or cheesy.

Check out his WEBSITE and he can be found on FACEBOOK and TWITTER  or come out to Weddings in Woodinville this weekend and check him out!

Engaged? What to work on next!

Engaged?

Congratulations! It’s an exciting time for you and your fiancé!  The only problem, you don’t have a minute to spare. It’s time to start planning now! But, where should you start?  Before you go out and interview vendors think about the following:

 What’s Your Wedding Style?

Will you hold your ceremony in a place of worship, at the reception site or at city hall?  Will it be extremely formal or informal?  What desired qualities do you want for your wedding?  What time of year will it be? Are you planning a morning or evening event?  How many attendants will you have? What’s your guest count? What type of reception will you have? Will it be a Champagne brunch, a tea or a sit-down dinner?  These are all important questions you need to ask yourself and your groom.

What’s Your Budget?

Now down to the brass tacks… You can’t do anything until you and your groom sit down with your families to discuss the following:

1)      Who is paying for what?

2)      If your parents are helping, ask them to commit to an exact amount.

3)      Use your budget guideline to help give you an idea of wedding costs  (example food and beverage should be 50% of your budget).

4)      Determine your top three priority categories (what’s most important to you).

5)      Estimate how much you will need to save by the time the final bills are due.

6)      Consider setting up automatic payroll deductions that can be put into a money-market account.

7)      If possible, sign up for a low-interest credit card that earns points or miles. Use that card for all wedding purchases, then apply the points  or miles toward your honeymoon!

Once you have tackled these two topics, go out and start interviewing possible venues/locations.
